Plain-language summary first; the detail follows.
You are responsible for your pool: for the rules you set, for collecting what players owe, for paying prizes, and for complying with the law where you and your players are located. Squares pools are treated differently in different places; some jurisdictions restrict them. It is your call whether running one is lawful for you.
You must confirm your email address before publishing a pool. That requirement exists so nobody can create a pool in your name.
Squares are paid player-to-host through Venmo, Zelle, PayPal, Cash App or cash. The platform never holds that money and never verifies those payments — only the host confirms receipt, and we take no cut of any pot.
The Host Pass is a paid feature bought through Whop, our billing provider. It lasts 12 months and is non-refundable once granted. See the refund policy.
Claiming a square is a commitment to pay for it. Before you send money to someone you met through this site, remember you are paying a stranger on the internet — the same caution that applies to any peer-to-peer transfer applies here.
A square is only yours once the host confirms payment. Claims can be released if payment never arrives.
When a board is published, the app fixes the random 0–9 rows and publishes a SHA-256 commitment to the seed that produced them. The seed is revealed when the board is locked. Anyone can hash the revealed seed and compare it to the commitment, which proves the digits were not chosen after the squares were sold. We cannot change that after the fact, and neither can a host — the commitment is also written to an append-only audit log.
Keep your password to yourself. We may suspend an account or a pool that appears to be fraudulent, abusive, or used to harass people.
This software is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. We are not liable for money you lose, prizes that go unpaid, or a game result you disagree with. If that is not acceptable, do not use the service.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising out of your use of the service — including disputes between hosts and players, unpaid prizes, or a score you disagree with. Our total liability, if any, will not exceed the greater of what you paid us for the Host Pass in the prior 12 months, or $50.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Super Bowl Boxes and its operators from any claims, damages, losses and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the service, a pool you host, or your breach of these terms or the law.
NFL team names, logos and marks belong to their respective owners and are used for identification only. Super Bowl Boxes is not affiliated with or endorsed by the NFL or any team.
The service relies on third parties — Whop for Host Pass payments, ESPN for scores and news, and an email provider. We are not responsible for their availability or accuracy, and your use of them is governed by their own terms.
